The Boeing Company
Horizontal Integration Facility
Cape Canaveral, FL

The Haskell Company was selected to provide engineering and construction services for a $22 million Horizontal Integration Facility for The Boeing Company.

The Horizontal Integration Facility features a structural steel building, totaling more than 100,000 s.f. with composite metal siding. The building also includes three high bays and a 25,000 s.f., two-story office and lab area featuring masonry, drywall, electrical, mechanical and interior finishes.

The work areas are used for rocket assembly and checkout, in order to provide fully integrated Boeing Delta 4 rockets ready for transfer to the launch pad.

A unique feature of this project was the requirement by Boeing to have absolutely flat floors allowing the precise mating of individual rocket components. Haskell was able to design and install the concrete floors to a tolerance never before achieved in the industry, giving Boeing a facility that will be functional for years to come.

The project was completed on schedule, despite $5 million worth of facility upgrades and four weeks that were lost due to hurricanes and shuttle launches.
